Haiti In Our Hearts
Haiti In Our Hearts is a member-based nonprofit comprised of families with adopted children from Haiti. The group meets for Haiti Camp the 3rd weekend in July of each year, for a weekend of fun, family reunions, Haitian culture, education, hair care and more. Haiti Camp was started 20 years ago by a group of adoptive parents with children from Haiti who had a desire to stay in touch as their children grew. The camp eventually became the nonprofit with members from all over the United States. Learn more about this organization on their Facebook page or their website. Pictured here are children performing in a talent competition at the 2012 camp.
Hays Kids was founded and is sustained by John Hays and Janice Goudy. Their mission is to provide education and support for families of children who have been diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). The work of Hays Kids includes maintenance of an informational website, as well as a residency program. Here is John Hays in the pottery studio they built to provide job and social training for teens with FASD.
